I have lived in the City of Waterloo for the last thirty years and in Waterloo Region my entire life. I know the area well and am committed to play a role in making it the best place to live and work in Canada. I married my best friend, Catherine 36 years ago. Our two sons, Rob and Mike live and work in Waterloo Region. Rob and his fiancée, Becky have recently given us a grandson, Auston Scott. Auston brings a new and exciting element to our lives as new grandparents! I enjoy many recreational and leisure activities this city offers, including hockey, golf, indulging in great restaurant meals with friends, and walking our dog on city greenspace and trails. My newest passion surprises me; I resisted pickleball initially, but have found a lot of enjoyment both physically and socially through this sport.

During my tenure as Councillor for the City of Waterloo, I was a strong supporter of a mixed-use library and community recreational facility that would provide badly needed services to the west side of the City. I am very proud of my role in bringing together three institutions to move this project forward: University of Waterloo signed a long-term land lease to accommodate the project, YMCA partnered to deliver recreational opportunities, including a pool, for all residents of Waterloo to enjoy. The Library Service Board worked out a plan for a new Waterloo Public Library. This Library and YMCA facility continues to be one of the most used facilities in the entire City.
As our population continues to grow and we have increased demands for new services and facilities, this type of collaboration of public and private sectors serves as a catalyst for the best approach of future projects, wherever possible.
I encourage you to have respectful dialogue with friends, family members, and political representatives prior to casting your ballot on October 24, 2022.
